North West police have arrested a man found in possession of 14 hand grenades near Stilfontein.
Spokesperson Adéle Myburgh says Public Order Policing in Klerksdorp acted on a tip-off.
She says police found the suspect on Saturday and searched him when the hand grenades were found.
He was arrested at the scene and charged with the unlawful possession of explosives.
Myburgh says the 38-year-old suspect, who is in the country illegally, will appear in the Stilfontein Magistrate's Court on Monday.
She says the investigation will be taken over by the Hawks.
