The Inkatha Freedom Party has called for the urgent and immediate suspension of public hearings on the Protection of State Information Bill by the National Council of Provinces.
The IFP says the hearings have become a platform for the ANC to mobilise support at the hearings and to silence dissenting voices.
IFP representative in the NCOP, Prince Zulu, pointed to two incidents in Gauteng and Kwazulu Natal yesterday, where he says the ANC members on the National Council of Provinces turned the hearings into a farce.
