Mystery surrounds the shooting of a man and a woman who was found critically wounded on a Johannesburg highway on Monday.
ER24 said that the incident happened on the M1 near the Jan Smuts offramp in Parktown.
Spokesperson Russel Meiring said the two were found lying in the middle of the road.
He said the male victim had sustained several gunshot wounds to the abdomen and chest while the female had several gunshot wounds to her legs.
“Both were in a critical condition,” Meiring said.
The motive for the shooting is still unknown but according to one report, the male victim was a member of the Hawks.
