The Inkatha Freedom Party in KwaZulu-Natal has condemned Monday's murder of the General Manager of Richards Bay Minerals, Nico Swart.
The 47-year-old Swart died in a hail of bullets early on Monday morning when, according to reports, more than 20 high-calibre bullets were fired at his vehicle.
IFP MPL, Blessed Gwala, says central to Swart's murder, was the failure of the KZN provincial government to resolve the issues leading to conflicts around Richards Bay.
He says another RBM manager Ronnie Nzimande, who was involved in investigating charges against senior staff, was ambushed and killed by suspects armed with semi-automatic weapons.
KZN police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbhele says Swart was driving to work just before 7 am when he was ambushed by three armed men on foot.
The motive for the murder is unknown at this stage.
