The man behind a spate of killings, including at the notorious Glebelands hostel in Durban, has been convicted of four murders in the Pietermaritzburg High Court.
National Prosecuting Authority regional spokesperson, Natasha Kara, said Senzo Cele was also found guilty of the unlawful possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition this week.
“The murder convictions relate to the murder of Simphiwe Ndebele who was shot and killed at the Glebelands hostel after an argument with Cele, and the murder of Siyabonga Mbhele who was shot and killed at KwaMnyandu taxi rank,” she said.
Kara said Cele was also convicted of the double murder of Joseph Nqaba Mbhele and Senzo Luthuli who were also shot and killed at KwaMnyandu Taxi Rank.
She said he matter was postponed to 23 March for sentencing.
