Limpopo police arrested a 22-year-old man who is alleged to have overpowered and killed a policeman at the Mutale Police Station on Friday.
The suspect and his 36-year-old uncle were arrested on Sunday in a village in the Mutale policing area when they went to visit a traditional healer.
Limpopo police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, said police also recovered the alleged murder weapon, keys, and money stolen when Warrant Officer, Mmbulaheni Mulanduli, was attacked and stabbed while doing his rounds.
He said the suspect will now face additional charges of murder, escaping from lawful custody and robbery on top of the charges of rape, kidnapping, and violating a protection order for which he was initially arrested.
Mojapelo said at the time of his arrest on Friday, he was out on bail of R4000-00 on a car hijacking case in January.
He will appear in the Mutale Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
