Five people, including three children, were killed and four others were injured in an accident between a car and a minibus in Uitsig, Bloemfontein on Saturday evening.
ER24's Inneke van Huyssteen says when paramedics arrived at the scene, they found five people in the car who had sustained fatal injuries.
She says nothing could be done for them and they were declared dead at the scene.
Three others from the vehicle sustained moderate to serious injuries.
Van Huyssteen says the driver of the minibus, who was trapped inside, was found in a serious condition.
The injured were treated and stabilised at the scene and transported to various hospitals.
The cause of the accident is not known.
