Stolen bakkie found hidden on back of truck

SAPS

Police have recovered a stolen bakkie which was found concealed on the back of a truck at the Lebombo Port of Entry.

Police said the driver was intending to cross the border into Mozambique on Saturday with the Ford Ranger bakkie on the back, hidden under piles of traditional brooms and covered with a tarpaulin.

“According to reports, the police at the border were busy with their duties when they noticed a suspicious white truck with Mozambican registration number plate fully loaded with traditional brooms,” said Colonel Donald Mdhuli.

He said the driver was not at the truck and after looking for him decided to take a closer look at the truck.

Mdhuli said while removing the traditional brooms, they discovered a white Ford Ranger with a false registration number plate.  Police later discovered that the bakkie was stolen in Sandton on 30 November.”

No arrests have been made and the investigation continues.
