Fedusa commends Radebe's name and shame campaign

The Federation of Unions of South Africa has commended Justice Minister Jeff Radebe on his plans to name and shame government officials charged with corruption.

However, Fedusa's Dennis George, says the ANC's insistence on cadre deployment is chiefly to blame for setting the scene for widespread corruption.

He says corruption remains the greatest scourge in our society which leads to an inefficient state and widespread problems with service delivery, affecting the poor the most.

George says without proper government services we will never be able to address our developmental challenges in a sustainable manner.

"Most of these people that are being deployed to government departments actually come from the ruling party itself and the way the ruling party have gone about deploying comrades and cadres, you know it is the basic reason why we are sitting with so much corruption, because of what is happening in the public sector"

He says another key issue for them is tender fraud.

"Companies are set up specifically with the purpouse of benefiting from the State tender fraud and then in the private sector the issue of tender rigging where prices are being inflated this must also probably be dealt with" George added.
