A Cape Town father is due to appear in court today for allegedly leaving his six month old baby in a locked car.
Police spokesperson, warrant officer November Filander says the incident happened at a library yesterday.
He says the child was in a locked vehicle with its windows closed on a day when the mercury climbed to 26 degrees in the Mother City.
Filander says the child's father was arrested at the scene while the child was taken to a nearby clinic for treatment.
