A man who allegedly murdered his wife and disabled son in the Johannesburg suburb of Linden is said to be fit to stand trial.
Fifty-one year-old Ben Engelbrecht allegedly used scarves to strangle his 49-year-old wife Ina and his 21-year-old wheelchair-bound son Kobus at the family's home in May last year, before he tried to commit suicide.
According to a psychiatric report, compiled by two psychiatrists who observed Engelbrecht at Sterkfontein Hospital, he was morally capable of understanding wrongdoing at the time of the incident.
