The son of the late Bosasa boss, Gavin Watson, painted a glowing picture of his father at a memorial service for the former Eastern Cape businessman.
Watson (73) was killed in an accident near OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg on Monday.
Speaking at the Little Falls Christian Centre in Roodepoort on Friday, Roth Watson, spoke at length about his father's kindness and charitable work, supporting organisations in poor communities.
"The past few days have been exceptionally hard on our family. However, the overwhelming support and love that is coming from all aspects, not just the country but the globe, is testament to what my father was to the lives of many that he engaged with, spoke to, touched and prayed with," he said.
Brother, Valence spoke about Gavin Watson's love for God first, his family second and then his Bosasa family.
He also said that his brother was persecuted because of his faith and this is what angered him the most.
"The media would purport that Gavin was this strange fellow, like an onion with a whole bunch of layers and he wasn't. He was very easy to read," he said.
He said Gavin's motto, which had come down through the ages for them, was "love the Lord thy God above all else and thy neighbour as thyself."
Valence told congregants that his late brother had confided that the "attack" on him was affecting his family as well as the whole of Bosasa, Gavin Watson's company that's said to be at the centre of a major corruption and bribery scandal.
He will be laid to rest in Port Elizabeth on 3 September during a service at the Feathermarket Centre at 11am.
