A 72-year-old man will appear in the Brits Magistrates Court in North West on Wednesday after he allegedly killed his tenant on Sunday.
The suspect, who lives on a plot outside Hartbeespoortdam, was approached by his 66-year-old tenant complaining that there was no electricity or water at his place.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda Funani says reports indicate that an argument ensued between the two when the landlord went inside his house and came out with his firearm.
She says it is alleged that he shot his tenant in the upper body and fled the scene while the victim was transported to the hospital.
The victim was declared dead upon his arrival.
The suspect was arrested during an intelligence-driven operation conducted around the Skeerpoort area.
Police confiscated his firearm, which will undergo ballistic testing.
