A Namibian drug mule arrested at the OR Tambo International Airport last week is expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe says the 30-year-old woman landed on a flight from Brazil and was arrested making her way through customs.
She says an X-ray revealed that she had swallowed foreign objects and she was taken into custody.
Brigadier Mathe says the woman excreted a total of 68 bullets of suspected cocaine.
A follow-up X-ray showed that her stomach contents were now empty and the goods removed weighed 850 grams.
The suspect was transferred from the hospital to a detention facility and more charges can be added at a later stage.
Police cannot yet determine the value of the drugs until all have been expelled from her body.
Brigadier Mathe says they do suspect that she could be part of a much bigger syndicate.
She says in the last two months 10 drug mules have been arrested at ORTIA and drugs valued at over R30 million seized.
Meanwhile, the Namibian The Sun Newspaper identified the alleged mule as Pauline Mbangula who went on holiday with her Nigerian boyfriend.
