The South African National Parks (SANParks) says a missing hiker, who was presumed to be lost on Table Mountain was found deceased on Sunday.
SANParks Head of Communications JP Louw says the female hiker, from the United States, left her accommodation at noon to go up the mountain.
According to her friends, her traffic app never updated.
He said when they received the reports all rescue teams and roleplayers, including trail runners, searched for her until late in the evening.
Louw says due to conditions it was no longer practical to search for the hiker in the late evening and the search resumed early the next day on foot.
He says it was then that the City of Cape Town's piloted aircraft was deployed to assist with the search and found her body on the slopes of the mountain on Sunday.
The circumstances around the hiker's death are still being investigated and further details about this incident will be provided as and when necessary.
The victim was 20-year-old American student Brook Cecilia Cheuvront.
