The bodies of an elderly couple were found in a tuck shop on their farm outside Parys in the Free State earlier on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson Thandi Mbambo said the pair were last seen in the tuck shop between 5 and 6pm on Monday. The body of the man was found on the floor, while the woman's body was in a deep freezer.
The cause of death is not yet known.
Police are following up on clues to track down the killers.
Mbambo says they are following up on available information, but are not sure at this stage how many suspects were involved.
Their house was ransacked, but it is still unclear exactly what was stolen.
The bodies of the couple, both in their 70's were found by their domestic worker.
