Eight suspected cash-in-transit robbers were shot dead in Sebokeng on Thursday morning.
Police Spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says the suspects are believed to be behind a spate of cash-in-transit heists that have been occurring in Gauteng and surrounding areas.
She says four suspects were also wounded.
Paramedics from ER24 also responded to the scene at about 6.30 am.
Spokesperson Russel Meiring says they found the deceased men lying around and inside the house.
He says upon assessment they found eight men with multiple gunshot wounds who were declared dead on the scene while four others sustained critical injuries.
It is not yet clear what led to the shootout and police investigations continue.
