Paralympic star Oscar Pistorius is expected to appear in court on Thursday where he faces a charge of murder.
This follows the death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp who was shot dead in his Pretoria home.
Police have reportedly confirmed that she had been shot 4 times.
Addressing a media briefing earlier, police spokesperson, brigadier Denise Beukes, said they were surprised by reports that Pistorius had mistaken Steenkamp for a burglar.
Beukes said that report did not emanate from the police.
She also said that there had been previous incidents of a domestic nature at Pistorius' home.
Beukes said police will oppose any bail application.
