The Democratic Alliance has suspended former Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality ward councillor and Member of Parliament Renaldo Gouws after another video of him making racial comments surfaced on social media on Wednesday.
In the latest video, which was allegedly filmed in 2010 Gouws is heard using the K-word and saying they must be killed.
Gouws has been in hot water this past week after videos of him making racial slurs made the rounds on social media, merely days after he was sworn in as Member of Parliament last Friday.
In a statement on Thursday, the party confirmed that it decided to suspend Gouws with immediate effect while he faces disciplinary charges before the party's Federal Legal Commission.
Chairperson of the DA federal council Helen Zille said Gouws used language that is opposed to the value system of the DA.
"His case has been referred to the party's federal commission and if he wants to state his defense, he can do so there. Until then, he has been suspended from all party activities pending the outcome of his disciplinary action.
Last week, upset X users started a petition which called for Gouws' removal from Parliament. In response to that, Gouws penned an apology on his X and Facebook profiles rejecting accusations of racism and being racist. He said he had taken responsibility for his immature, younger self.
Gouws also said he made the video when former President Jacob Zuma and then Youth Leader and now Commander in Chief of the Economic Freedom Fighters Julius Malema were singing songs about killing people based on their race.
Meanwhile, in the council meeting held by Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality in Gqeberha on Thursday, various party members called for Gouws to be removed from the National Assembly and said that he goes against all values of democracy.
