Three suspected poachers were killed in separate gun battles with rangers in the Kruger National Park.
SA National Parks said the latest incident occurred late on Tuesday night when rangers encountered an armed group.
Spokesperson, JP Louw, said a heavy calibre hunting rifle, ammunition and poaching equipment were seized.
He said rangers were also involved in a shootout with suspected poachers last Friday.
One suspect was fatally wounded during this incident.
“The two incidents in the Kruger National Park (KNP) in a space of four days are a highlight of the dangerous conditions rangers operate under,” Louw said.
He said it also demonstrated the threats they face against heavily armed suspected poachers.
“Incursions on the Eastern boundary are still relentless and the anti-poaching units have been under a lot of pressure.
“SANParks is also exploring numerous interventions which includes community mobilisation and support to push back against the continuous poaching threats,” Louw added.
Police are investigating both cases.
