Two Cape Town policemen were killed in the early hours of Sunday morning in an apparent ambush in Bloekombos in the Kraaifontein policing precinct.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Brenda Muridilli, said the members were on patrol in Phumla Street at around 01:25 when their vehicle came under fire “in an apparent ambush.”
She said the deceased, a Sergeant and Constable, at Kraaifontein police station, were robbed of their firearms.
Their names will be released later.
The National Commissioner has condemned these murders and he has ordered that the 72-hour Activation Plan be implemented to mobilise all the resources needed to investigate this case.
Muridili said the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation has been assigned to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.
