Cops jailed for death in custody

Two Gauteng police members were sentenced to 28 years imprisonment following their conviction on charges of murder and torture.

Constables Abel Dintwe (35) and Derrick Johnson (42) were sentenced in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Wednesday to 18 years for murder and 10 years for torture.

This followed the death of 43-year-old Innocent Sebediela at the Ennerdale Police Station in June 2018.

IPID said that the sentences will run back to back.
