A 40-year-old man who was out on parole on a rape charge was handed a double life sentence for raping three women in separate incidents in 2017 and 2019.
The National Prosecuting Authority said Pule Kgosimore was sentenced in the Bloemhof regional court on Monday.
Spokesperson, Henry Mamothame, said he was handed the double life sentence for raping breaking into a house in Boitumelong near Bloemhof in 2019 and raping two sisters, aged 27 and 37.
He said Kgosimore was also sentenced to 15 years for raping another woman in 2017, where the DNA obtained in the 2019 case linked him to the earlier cold case.
Mamothame also said that Kgosimore was on parole for a separate rape case that occurred before the other incidents, but no details were immediately provided.
He said the state prosecutor advocate Jimmy Tamele, urged the court during the aggravation of the sentence not to deviate from the prescribed minimum sentence of life imprisonment.
The Director of Public Prosecutions in the North West, Dr Rachel Makhari, complimented the prosecutor, investigating officer Sergeant Pule Morake, and other role players who ensured that justice was served in the matter.
