Three Newcastle matric learners were killed and three others hurt in an accident, reportedly while returning from a 'pens down' party.
According to the KZN Education department, the vehicle the learners were in was involved in a collision in the Amajuba District this morning.
They were from the Mnyamande High School.
KZN education department spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi says the injured schoolchildren are in ICU.

He said MEC Mbalenhle Frazer, emphasised that this was not the time for arguing but to console and pray for the families who have lost their children".
He said MEC Frazer also warned other children contemplating pens down parties in KZN not to do so.
