Burglars steal laptops from FS public prosecutors offices

File

Free State police are investigating a break-in at the offices of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in the Free State, in which four laptops and voice recorders were stolen.

NPA regional spokesperson Mojalefa Senokoatsane said the burglary occurred during the early hours of Monday morning.

He said the intruders broke into several offices, including the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Senokoatsane said despite the break-in, people of the Free State can “rest assured that no sensitive information, dockets, or files were taken” as they are stored in a secured area.

He said police investigators also collected evidence from the scene, including DNA.

The National Prosecuting Authority also moved to assure the public that security at its offices “is taken seriously”, saying the break-in was an isolated case.

The NPA statement did not say how the break-in occurred despite confirming that their buildings have 24-hour security.
