A man who was caught on CCTV camera trying to snatch a 4-year-old child from a pizza restaurant in Gauteng will make another court appearance on Friday.
The Roodepoort Magistrates Court is also expected to rule on the media's application to film proceedings.
A spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Phindi Mjonondwane says Naseem Slamang is facing three charges of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, attempted kidnapping and common assault.
The video which went viral on social media a week ago sent shockwaves through the country and was a stark reminder of the levels of crime the country is dealing with.
Mjonondwane says the court heard that Slamang had three previous convictions and a pending case of theft against him and that a warrant of arrest was issued for him almost a year ago.
Slamang is expected to bring a formal bail application, which the State will oppose.
