A Cape Town traffic officer and a motorist were shot dead in Lavender Hill on Wednesday.
Police Captain Frederick van Wyk, says two men shot the driver of the car, as well as the officer who was busy issuing a traffic fine.
The traffic officer, 35-year-old Wesley Woodman, was rushed to hospital where he died later.
His service firearm was stolen in the attack.
The motorist killed in the shooting was out on bail on a murder charge.
