Detectives in Mannenberg on the Cape Flats are probing the death of a 10-year-old boy who was caught up in a gang shooting.
Police said the incident occurred in Tambo Village at around 10.30 on Friday morning.
A spokesperson said it is alleged that five unknown suspects fired at each other and that the victim was caught in the crossfire of these rival gangs.
"He was admitted to hospital where he later succumbed to death," according to a SAPS statement.
The boy's name has not yet been released.
