The ANC was determined to do better to serve the people in every municipality.
That was the word from ANC and state President, Cyril Ramaphosa, who conducted an election campaign drive in the Eastern Cape’s two Metropolitan Municipalities this weekend.
Ramaphosa and other ANC leaders, including the head of the elections, Fikile Mbalula, were in Nelson Mandela Bay on Sunday, conducting door-to-door campaigning in Gqeberha and Kariega.
He said the ANC remained committed to delivering better services and build thriving communities as this is “our people demand of us and this is what our people deserve.”
Ramaphosa also used the ANC’s election campaign visit to push the government’s Vooma vaccination campaign, which he launched on Friday.
The ANC president told supporters that vaccination was important in the run-up to the local government elections on 1 November.
Meanwhile, Ramaphosa earlier said he was confident that the party would retain the Buffalo City Metro following the elections.
He wooed voters in Mdantsane on Saturday but had to cut short his visit due to inclement weather.
Ramaphosa said the local leadership in Buffalo City had worked hard to improve the living conditions of the Metro's residents and predicted that the ANC would win even more votes in Buffalo City.
