Business Unity South Africa says government should postpone the introduction of a carbon tax.
Busa's Raymond Parsons was presenting the organisation's wish-list ahead of president Jacob Zuma's fifth state of the nation address on Thursday evening.
Parsons says at this point in the business cycle it would not be wise to increase taxes.
"This is not the year for increases in taxes and its important rather to implement what you have said you would do to discipline government spending. That should be the first party before you look for any new taxes which will be in the present climate very counter productive. This is an issue on the private sector" Parsons said.
