A 51-year-old man from Brits in the North West Province will make his first appearance in the local Magistrates' Court on Friday for the illegal possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Police Spokesperson Captain Tlangelani Rikhotso says the arrest was as a result of an intelligence-driven operation involving several police units.
He says the suspect's house was searched where police found an assortment of firearms and ammo which included a 9mm pistol, shotgun, two rifles, a dart gun and a large quantity of ammunition.
Meanwhile, a man and woman from Mitchell's Plain in Cape Town appeared in the local Magistrates Court on Thursday for having twelve firearms without the required competency certificates or licenses.
The accused, both in their forties, were arrested on Wednesday after nine pistols, three shotguns and 85 rounds of ammo was found in their possession.
