Two men who impersonated Gauteng Traffic Officers in order to hijack trucks have been arrested.
Spokesperson for the Hawks Colonel Philani Nkwalase says a multi-disciplinary task team was set up to find the suspects.
He says were apprehended in Atteridgeville on Friday, dressed in full Gauteng Traffic uniforms in an attempt to evade arrest.
Col Nkwalase says upon searching their vehicle, police found an unlicensed firearm with ammunition, a signal jammer, blue lights, SAPS-issued firearm holsters, false government number plates and uniforms.
The Hawks believe that the duo is responsible for a spree of truck hijackings in Gauteng.
The men will appear in the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Monday on a string of charges.
