A 42-year-old man is expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrates' Court on Wednesday following his arrest for his alleged involvement in the murder of his parents and his sibling.
Police Spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele says police were called out to a house in Raymond Mhlaba street on Tuesday morning where the three bodies were found.
He says the bodies of a 68-year-old man, his 65-year-old wife and their 40-year-old son were found inside the house.
Brigadier Makhele says they were all shot in the head and a firearm suspected to have been used in the murders was found on top of the mother's body.
The couple's 42-year-old son was arrested soon after and will make his first appearance in court on Wednesday.
The names of the deceased have not yet been released to the media.
