Police in the North West province are investigating a double murder after the bodies of an elderly couple were found in their shop in Christiana in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone says a customer raised the alarm when he peeked through the shop window to see why it had not been opened on time.
He says upon arrival police discovered the bodies of 74-year-old Diniz (Fernandus) Da Silva and his 71-year-old wife Maria Goretta Da Silva lying on the floor of their shop.
Brigadier Mokgwabone says the man's hands were tried with cable ties.
The motive is unknown at this stage and no arrests have been made.
