A barman from Cape Town who cloned bank cards belonging to customers received a suspended sentence earlier this week.
The 27-year-old Songeza Gqolana was found guilty on five charges of fraud and forgery in violation of the Electronic Communications and Transaction (ECT) Act and Money laundering.
Gqolana, who was arrested by the Hawks in 2019, was sentenced to five years in prison, wholly suspended for five years as well as a fine of R40 000 or one year in prison.
Police Spokesperson Zinzi Hani says the court further sentenced him to 3 years correctional supervision and further declared him unfit to possess a firearm.
