KZN police say an ANC ward councillor, who was campaigning door-to-door in Durban’s Cato Crest area was killed in a shooting incident on Friday evening.
Siyabonga Mkhize and another party member died at the scene.
Police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbele says two other people were rushed to hospital.
The ANC says it is shocked by the news, adding that Mkhize was a Ward 101 candidate.
The party said it would meet with the family on Saturday.
Mkhize’s murder comes less than two months after a drive-by shooting outside a primary school in Inanda during which three women attending an ANC meeting were killed.
