Seven men, aged between 25 and 35, were killed in a head-on collision between the taxi they were traveling in and a truck on the R545 between Bethal and Kriel in Mpumalanga in the early hours of Sunday morning.
ER24 says paramedics arrived at the scene at around 3 am.
Spokesperson, Ross Campbell says the men were declared dead at the scene.
“Five people were entrapped in the wreck of the taxi, once the fire department had begun the process of extraction further two bodies were found. None of those found showed any signs of life", he said.
Campbell says the truck driver escaped unharmed.
The cause of the accident is not known and local authorities are investigating.
