Amplats announcement expected on Monday

 A formal announcement on whether talks over Anglo American Platinum's planned retrenchment of nearly 14,000 mine workers had succeeded in saving jobs, is expected on Monday.

The meeting followed discussions on Thursday, between the company and Mineral Resources Minister Susan Shabangu.

Amplats said earlier this month, that it planned a restructuring that could lead to the retrenchments.
