African Swine Fever (ASF) has spread from Mossel Bay to George.
The Western Cape Department of Agriculture says these are the first-ever outbreaks of this deadly disease in the area.
The first confirmed case was reported from a pig farm in KwaNonqaba on the 13th of January.
The area has been placed under quarantine.
The disease has now, however, also been positively identified in Thembalethu in George.
Head of communication at the department Mary James says more than 75 pigs have died in Mossel Bay.
State vets are policing the affected areas and have urged community members to not remove any pigs or pig products from Mossel Bay and George in order to prevent the further spread of the disease.
James says the Veterinary Services of the Western Cape will host information sessions in Mossel Bay, George and Plettenberg Bay from the 7th to the 9th February.
Swine fever is highly contagious but does not affect humans and only occurs in domestic pigs and some breeds of wild pigs such as warthogs.
