The first batch of locally grown lemons will be shipped from KwaZulu-Natal to China under a revised protocol on Friday.
Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Thoko Didiza, says under this protocol, the local lemon production is expected to grow by 175 000 metric tons by 2024.
Didiza says this will contribute significantly to the economy while creating job opportunities.
The Minister says the first container of lemons is from Limpopo and the second one will come from the Eastern Cape in April.
