The welcome rain this week in the catchment areas has seen the level of Nelson Mandela Bay’s main supply dams increase to above 17% of total combined capacity.
According to the latest figures released by the Municipality on Friday, Nelson Mandela Bay’s four main supply dams are currently at 17.55% of capacity compared to the previous reading of 16.93% on Monday.
Garth Sampson at the PE Branch of the Weather Service reports that the towns of Joubertina and Kareedouw in the heart of the catchment area of the Langkloof have both received more than 50 millimetres of rain so far this month.
Kareedouw has measured 60 mm, Joubertina 55.2, Patensie 25.2 and the Kouga Dam 17.2 mm.
The Port Elizabeth airport has received 117.4 millimetres of rain so far in August and Cape St Francis 175 mm.
Plettenberg Bay has received a proper soaking and has measured a whopping 220.4 mm so far this month.
