A very cold and wet weekend can be expected for the Eastern Cape as a cold front will pass over the southern regions of the Eastern Cape on Saturday.
A spokesperson for SA Weather (SAWS) in Port Elizabeth says there will be some showers that will spread from Plettenberg Bay to Graaff-Reinet and Fort Beaufort.
He says light snow is also expected over the southern coastal mountains spreading to the Sneeuberg and Winterberg later in the day.
On Sunday there will be a significant drop in daytime temperatures across the province.
By Monday conditions will clear, before the arrival of another cold front, bringing with it light showers along the South Coast.
On Tuesday there is a fair chance of showers and rain over the bulk of the province, with snow expected over the high ground in the east.
By Wednesday showers and rain will persist over the southern and eastern parts of the province.
Meanwhile, Nelson Mandela Bay’s main supply dams continued to enjoy some good run-off this week following last week’s rain and snow in the catchment areas in the Langkloof.
According to the latest figures released by the Municipality on Thursday morning, the four main supply dams are currently at 18.55% of total combined capacity.
The reading is slightly up from Monday’s figure of 18.24%.
A week earlier, the dam levels had dropped to below 17% of total combined capacity.
The largest supply dam, the Kouga, is currently at 7.84%, the Churchill at 54.54%, the Impofu at 18.03% and the Groendal at 25.07%.
