Ethiopia and Togo both fielded suspended stars in recent 2014 World Cup, according to FIFA match records of the competition.
Ethiopia's National football federation president admitted in an interview with the BBC on Tuesday that Ethiopia had blundered by fielding midfielder Beyene in the away game against Botswana.
He said it was a management blunder and they won't appeal any Fifa sanction.
Should Ethiopia be found guilty, as now seems likely, it will have a major impact on eliminated South Africa and Botswana who will be back in contention in Group A.
Bafana coach Gordon Igesund told the DMB on AlgoaFM that should Ethiopia be docked points, it would mean that South Africa could then finish top of the group (and qualify for the World Cup 2014) by beating Botswana in their final qualifying match. However, CAR would need to draw or beat Ethiopia in their final fixture to prevent Ethiopia from qualifying.
