Warriors lose by an innings in Durban

KESHAV MAHARAJ claimed three of the last four Chevrolet Warriors wickets to wrap up an innings victory for the Sunfoil Dolphins on the fourth morning of their Sunfoil Series match at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead.

The Warriors went into the final day on 168 for six needing a further 85 runs to make the Dolphins bat again, but Maharaj dismissed Simon Harmer for 29 in the seventh over of the day and then grabbed the last two wickets to record figures of 5 for 61 in the innings.

As was the case in the first innings, Davy Jacobs was left to fight a lone battle, hitting 64 not out only to see his side bowled out for 208 to lose by an innings and 45 runs.

Nineteen-year-old fast bowler Daryn Dupavillon was named man of the match for his match figures of 7 for 64 on franchise debut, while the Dolphins came away from the game with 17.82 points.

That put them second on the table, 8.2 points behind the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras - at least until the conclusion of the Chevrolet Knights’ clash with The Unlimited Titans on Sunday.
