Fast-medium bowlers Graham Onions and Steven Finn were retained in addition to the 11 who played at Lord's to give the world's number one-ranked Test side a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Resuming on the final day on 10 for 2 in pursuit of a victory target of 191, England slipped to 57/ 4 before order was restored with a 5th wicket partnership of 132 between Allister Cook and Ian Bell.

Cook fell for 79 with two runs needed and Bell ended on 63 not out as England won by 5 wickets.
