The University of Pretoria's Tukkies secured their first Varsity Cup title with a hard-fought 29-21 victory over the Maties from Stellenbosch in a pulsating final at the Tuks Rugby Stadium in Pretoria last night.
Last year's runners-up produced a stirring second-half performance to pull away from the three-time champions who suffered their first Varsity Cup Final defeat.
Its the first time the Varsity Cup has been won by a team from up north.
Earlier in the day: UCT secured their spot in the Varsity Cup next year with a 60-21 victory over Varsity Shield runners-up Central University of Technology.
