Super 12 Final set to be club derby of the year


The Final of the Eastern Cape Super 12 Club Rugby Tournament will see arch club rivals Gardens and Progress face off against each other at the Central fields Stadium in Uitenhage on Saturday.
The tournament, which is sponsored by the Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, takes place between February and March every year, with six top clubs from the Eastern Province Rugby Union taking on six top clubs from the Border Rugby Football Union.
The competition, which began in 2007, was revived in 2011 and has been growing from strength to strength since then.
In a nail biting semi-final round, Progress beat African Bombers by 44-20 in front of a packed Central fields stadium, whilst Gardens managed a 23-13 victory over East London Police.
The finals are also expected to be a major crowd pleaser, offering a day full of rugby, with the first game getting underway at 9am and the main match kicking off at 3:30pm.
