Strong EC presence in SA u21 hockey squad

The SA Hockey Association has named a 16-strong squad for the first ever African Hockey World Cup.

Sixteen nations will be descending on South Africa for the Junior Hockey World Cup which will be hosted at Potchefstroom University from 5-16 December.

The SA u21 Women Hockey Squad includes Kaylin Maree and Edith Molikoe, who were both schooled at Woodridge College in Nelson Mandela Bay, and Bianca Wood and Zimkhita Weston who grew up in East London.

Hosts South Africa have been pooled with European heavyweights Germany, Spain and the USA in Pool D of the tournament, with the top two from each group progressing to the Quarter Final stage.

Mathapelo Ramasimong and Onthatile Zulu have been named as the co-captains.
