Experienced backline JP Pietersen has been called up to the Springbok squad in place of the injured Ruan Pienaar.
Pienaar injured his medial cruciate knee ligaments in Saturday's 14-10 defeat in their Rugby Championship Test against New Zealand in Wellington and has been ruled out of the remainder of the competition.
Pietersen will join the squad when they assemble in Cape Town next Sunday. He was not available earlier in the competition becaue of club committments in Japan.
Coach Heyneke Meyer said they'd decided to go with Pietersen as they already havd two scrumhalves in the squad in Francois Hougaard and Cobus Reinach.
The Springboks next play Australia at Newlands in Cape Town on the 27th of September.
