Sharks hang on to top spot

The Sharks cling to a one-point lead in the Super Rugby competition, after going 16 - 9 down to title rivals the Brumbies in New Plymouth on Saturday.

The Western Force made it seven wins from their last eight games in downing the Cheetahs 23-16 in Bloemfontein for their first win in South Africa since 2011.

The Hurricanes had a hard-fought 25-15 win over the Rebels in Melbourne, while the Highlanders escaped with the narrowest of victories to put their season back on track with a 23-22 win over the Lions in Dunedin.

The Bulls had a come-from-behind 28-12 win over the Stormers in Pretoria.

Seven-time champions the Crusaders compiled a record Super Rugby score at Lang Park to crush the Queensland Reds 57-29 yesterday.

The 2011 champion Reds scored four tries to secure a bonus point, but remain bottom of the Australia conference.
